Reinforced polymer construction Binders Binders are the products of processing of one or other type of starting raw materials, which contain, besides the main polymer, plasticizer set, adhesion addilives, wetting and spread agents, hardeners and co-hardeners etc. Introduction of these additives and chemical modification of starting raw material makes it possible that this polymeric material to bind reinforcing material providing high strength and obtaining monolithic reinforced polymeric construction.
The binders are classified depending on used raw materials type (epoxy, phenolic etc), depending on cure type (“hot” or “cold”), depending on aggregative state during application process of binder on reinforcing material or processing method of reinforcing material together with applied binder (binders-melts, binders processed by prepreg method etc.).In the general case, among hot cure binders are materials curable at more than 100 °С.These materials can be processed into glass plastics articles by winding, pultrusion, vacuum molding, prepreg methods. Hot cure binders, as a rule, are characterized by higher level of strength characteristics and allowable temperatures of operation.Binders of cold cure are long known and are used in different enterprises rather widly.
As a rule, these materials are rather specifical and require full adaptation to conditions of their use and processing.

Binders of hot cure |

| Solvent-free binder based on modified epoxy resins and adhesion additives, which provide light impregnatives, the availability of adhesion to even non-finished glass material, high cure rate (gelatinization time is 55-60 sec at 180 °С). It is specially developed and use in the production of glass plastic articles by pultrusion and winding technique. By the level of thechnology properties and physical-mechanical characteristics it is superior to EDT-10 and EDI binders. |

A special feature of the binder became the heat resistance of its polymeric matrix (T by Martens = 150 °С). High heat resistance in combination with technological characteristics of KDA-XI made possible producing of glass plastic hot water pipes without application of special-purpose resins.

| The binder is designed for flame resistant foiled glass-cloth-base laminates, which are similar to the FR-4 type under standard NEMAL J1. There are no analogous materials for them among materials developed in CIS countries. | |

| UP-3108 binders are cured with increased power-intensivity: 80°С for 4 hours; 120°С for 1,5 hour.
Glass plastics based on UP-3108 binder has high physical-mechanical properties.
It has found its use as component of glass plastic articles in wind-power units, parabolic aerials, medicine equipment.

In common and in technical literature it is often named “bulver-backelit”. It presents products of simulataneous grinding of hard phenolformaldehyde resin, urotropin, modifiers and different technological additives.
Production of these binders was set up as alternatives to SFP-011A, SFP-011L, SFP-012A and other binders delivered from Russia. Now we produce only one mark of the material, it is SFP-202L, which replaces some marks produced in Russia.

It is designed for the manufacture of glass plastic articles by contact molding method and winding; they are cured without outside heat or with minimum energy consumption (80°С/4 hours).

| Epoxy-phenolic binder is processed into glass plastic by prepreg technique and is characterized by high level of strength and adhesion characteristics. It is used in number of Ukrainian enterprises for the fabrication of articles from carbon plastics, organoplastic (telescope fishing-rods, spinnings, tripods, windserfing masts). | |

Epoxy binder UP-3153 is developed for flame-resistant foiled glass-cloth-base laminates, which are similar to the FR-5 type under NEMAL standard. There are no analogous materials among that of developed in CIS countries. |

UP-3129 epoxy composition presents two-packed system designed for potting and scaling of magnet heads, different sensors and actuating mechanism.
From results of industrial tests we can say that the composition provides such level of properties in the polymers (strength, water-resistance etc.), that is highly competitive with that of licenced compound from the “Three Bond” firm and materials from the “JVC” firm (Japan).

| This decorative epoxy composition is designed for application of decorative coatings of different colours and tints on glass plastic constructions fabricated based on UP-335 and UP-391 binders.
The composition has found its use as decorative coating in the manufacture of glass plastic parts for cars, luggage compartments, sail-planes, boats, ponds etc.

|
UP-3157 epoxy binder presents a product of combination of epoxy modified resins. This binder is applied for the manufacture and repair of tooling: press molds, stamps and other, that are used in processing of thermoset and thermoplastic materials.

KDA-X binder is designed for the fabrication of glass plastic articles of different purposes: stuffing articles, polymeric concretes etc. There are many fields of use, which is due to combination of technological properties and properties of cured polymer. It was developed as alternative for binders based on KDA and KDA-2 resins produced in the USSR and ER-1 compound for model tooling. Base level of properties can be modified easily for the new field of use.

Epoxy binder of long pot-life. Full cure is reached for 2-3 days even at temperatures 10-20 °С. By combination of technological properties and properties of cured polymer it is close analogous material of KDA-X binder. Into the composition there could be introduced surface-active substances and adhesion additives allowing to use different types of glass clothes (including building ones). The binder is oriented to the production of large-dimension glass plastic articles by contact molding method.
